Condition and Materials

Second-hand, without surprises

For us, offering second-hand as an alternative to buying new means choosing pieces that still have plenty to offer, both in style and condition. And describing them accurately, so that what you receive matches what you chose.

Shape of Sunday’s selection consists mainly of pieces in like-new or excellent condition. We assess each item as a whole: fabric, finishes, shape and signs of wear.

What makes it into our selection

We prioritise pieces without obvious flaws. When minor signs of wear are present, we consider how much they actually affect the garment’s appearance and wearability.

Sometimes we choose to include a distinctive piece despite an imperfection, because its cut, construction or other details make it difficult to replace. In these cases, we describe the flaw and show it in the photos, so you can assess it before purchasing.

Understanding our condition ratings

Like new

The item shows no signs of wear. It may have been worn, but its appearance remains well preserved.

Excellent

The item is well preserved and may show minor signs of wear that do not affect its overall appearance or functionality. Where present, these are noted in the product description.

Good

The item has more noticeable signs of wear or stains, which may also be visible when worn. Read the notes in the product description for details.

For pieces selected despite a more noticeable imperfection, we provide a specific description of their condition. A piece’s distinctive character never replaces clarity about what you’re buying.

Materials: what we know, clearly stated

When the composition label is present and legible, we list the fibres and percentages shown, distinguishing between the outer fabric and the lining where this information is available.

If the label is missing or illegible, we make that clear. The term “Suggested”, when used, indicates our own assessment of the material, not a confirmed composition.

A shiny fabric is not necessarily silk, just as a soft knit is not necessarily wool: we keep fabric descriptions separate from information about fibre composition.
